Safeguarding & Person Centred Care
How Our Training Levels Work
Level 1: Awareness 1.5 Hours
Target: Ancillary staff (housekeepers, kitchen team, maintenance, admin) who work in care environments but do not deliver direct care, plus brand-new care starters needing immediate baseline grounding.
3 sessions allowed per day
Level 2: Understanding 3 Hours
Target: Direct care staff (care assistants, support workers) generally with 1+ year of experience needing standard legislation, practical application, and care delivery skills.
2 sessions allowed per day
Level 3: Supervisory 6 Hours
Target: Senior care workers, team leaders, and supervisors responsible for competency reviews, monitoring care standards, and staff mentoring.
1 session allowed per day
Level 4: Management 6 Hours + Work
Target: Registered managers, champions, and care leaders overseeing policy development, CQC audit readiness, and organizational safeguarding governance. Includes pre/post-course work.
1 session allowed per day

Safeguarding Adults at Risk

Levels 1 – 4
Identifies types of abuse, neglect indicators, disclosure handling, internal reporting pathways, and multi-agency protection responsibilities.
Compliance Standards: Care Act 2014, Skills for Care CSTF, Care Certificate Standard 10, and CQC Regulation 13 (Safeguarding service users from abuse).
Key Impact: Local authorities handle over 500,000 safeguarding concerns yearly. Effective training ensures early recognition, protects vulnerable lives, and passes CQC audits.

Safeguarding Children

Levels 1 – 4
Recognising child protection risks, signs of harm, disclosure management, escalation protocols, and inter-agency working in settings interacting with families.
Compliance Standards: Aligned with Working Together to Safeguard Children, Children Act 1989/2004, and Skills for Care guidance.
Key Impact: Child protection concerns require immediate, compliant action. Clear staff training prevents reporting delays and upholds statutory child protection duties.

Mental Capacity Act & DOLS

Levels 1 – 4
Understanding mental capacity principles, decision-specific assessments, best interest decision-making frameworks, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
Compliance Standards: Mental Capacity Act 2005, DoLS Code of Practice, Care Certificate Standard 9, and CQC Regulation 11 (Need for consent).
Key Impact: Unlawful restriction of liberty leads to severe CQC warning notices and legal challenges. Structured MCA & DoLS training protects service user rights and provider compliance.

Person Centred Care

Levels 1 – 4
Core principles of delivering individualized care that respects personal preferences, promotes independence, maintains dignity, and fosters service user choice.
Compliance Standards: Aligned with Care Certificate Standard 5, Skills for Care Values, and CQC Regulation 9 (Person-centred care).
Key Impact: CQC inspection frameworks place person-centred care at the core of Responsive and Caring domain ratings. Tailored care delivery directly elevates inspection results.

Equality & Diversity

Levels 1 – 4
Promoting inclusion, challenging discriminatory practices, respecting cultural and protected characteristics, and upholding human rights in daily care.
Compliance Standards: Fully incorporates Equality Act 2010, Human Rights Act 1998, Care Certificate Standard 4, and CQC Regulation 10.
Key Impact: Equality Act non-compliance exposes providers to legal tribunal risks and regulatory penalties. Active inclusion training fosters a respectful workplace culture.

Effective Communication

Levels 1 – 4
Developing verbal, non-verbal, written, and accessible communication strategies for clients, families, multi-disciplinary teams, and regulators.
Compliance Standards: Aligned with Accessible Information Standard (AIS), Care Certificate Standard 6, and CQC Regulation 17 (Good governance).
Key Impact: Communication breakdown feature in over 70% of social care complaints and CQC inspection feedback. Structured training enhances care accuracy and family trust.
